Northeast Monsoon Commences Over Tamilnadu

Current Weather Conditions on 26th October 2011 @ 11.00 am.

On 24th October 2011 the Southwest Monsoon withdrew from the remaining parts of the country, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea and thus, it has withdrawn from the entire country. Simultaneously, the Northeast Monsoon rains commenced over Tamilnadu and adjoining areas of
Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states.

There is a trough of Low at mean sea level extending from southwest Bay of Bengal to Westcentral Bay of Bengal persists. Another trough of Low at mean sea level extending from Lakshadweep area to Eastcentral Arabian Sea persists. Massive convective clouds associated with the Arabian Sea trough of Low are seen.

The weather over Saurashtra & Gujarat has been hot and dry. The Maximum Temepratures over most parts of Saurashtra & Gujarat has been 2 to 3 Degrees above normal. The Highest Maximum Temperature of 37.5°C has been recorded at Deesa and Surendranagar(Gujarat) in plains of the country. The Maximum Temperature at Rajkot yesterday was 37.3°C.
