Scattered Showers Over Saurashtra & Gujarat

Current Weather Conditions on 3rd June 2011 @ 4.00 pm.

Scattered showers have been reported from many places in Amreli District and Gir Forest areas yesterday. Today also the area of coverage of scattered showers has increased. Also the quantum of Precipitation has increased in some of the places. Rajkot recorded its first showers of the Monsoon year today with 0.2 mm.

Various forecast models have differing views on this and even the same forecast model has differing outcome with each run. Things may look clearer in a day or two.

Mean while as per IMD report of 3rd June Evening:

Southwest monsoon has further advanced over some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Bay of Bengal and entire Goa.
The northern limit of monsoon (NLM) passes through 16.0°N/60.0°E, 16.0°N/70.0°E, Vengurla, Belgaum, Gadag, Anantapur, Nellore, 15.0°N/85.0°E, 17.0°N/90.0°E and 20.0°N/94.0°E.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Arabian Sea, Andhra Pradesh and Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Karnataka and some parts of south Maharashtra and northeastern states during next 2-3 days.
