Very Heavy Winds & Rain For West Coastal Saurashtra

Current Weather Conditions on 6th September 2011 @ 12. 00 pm.

The Low Pressure area is now over North Gujarat, Kutch, North Saurashtra and neighbourhood. The associated Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation extends up to Mid Tropospheric levels is broadly over Saurashtra, Kutch & North Gujarat. The Low Pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of west Bengal and Orissa persists with UAC extending up to mid tropospheric levels.Axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through center of Low pressure area (Bhuj), Jalore, Bhilwara, Satna, Ranchi, Center of Low Pressure area (near Balasore) and thence Southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. The off shore trough from Gujarat coast to Kerala coast persists.

Very high winds have started along the Coastal Saurashtra regions. Heavy moisture incursion is taking place from Arabian Sea giving heavy rainfall for all Coastal Saurashtra and adjoining areas.

There has been very heavy rainfall yesterday over Jamnagar District Ave. rainfall 10.2 Cms., Porbandar District Ave. rainfall 11.6 Cms., Junagadh DistrictAve. rainfall 5 Cms., Kutch Ave. rainfall 3.8 Cms. Some of the individual places rainfall figures for yesterday are:

Kalyanpur 29.8 Cms.
Bhanvad & Ranavav 16.5 Cms.
Dwarka 15.6 Cms.
Abdasa 13.3 Cms.
Jamnagar 12.7 Cms.

Forecast:

Heavy rainfall expected over West Coastal Saurashtra, Junagadh District, Jamnagar District, Porbandar District and Rajkot District while light to medium rainfall for Amreli, Bhavnagar District during 6th & 7th September. The rainfall is expected to decrease from 8th September. Very high winds are expected to continue till tomorrow the 7th September. West Coastal Saurashtra could get high winds of upto 50 to 65 kms/hr. while interior Saurashtra can expect high winds of 30 to 50 Kms./hr. winds.
