Deep Depression Intensifies Into Cyclonic Storm "WARD"

Current Weather Conditions on 11th December 2009 @ 6.00 pm.

The Deep Depression in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm "WARD" as forecast earlier and is currently lying at 9.1N 85.2E about 350 Kms. East of Shri Lanka Coast and about 550 Kms. South East of Tamilnadu Coast. The Central Pressure of the System is 996 Mb. with winds of 65 to 75 Kms./Hour with gusts of 85 Kms./Hour. The System has tracked mainly Northwards instead of earlier forecast track of North Westwards.

Forecast:

The Tropical Cyclone "WARD" or the Cyclonic Storm "WARD" is expected to track in the Northerly direction during the next 24 Hours and then may track along the Tamilnadu - Andhra Coast.

Heavy to very heavy rains are forecast for Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu between 12th/13th to 16th December instead of from 11th earlier forecast.
