Relay Of Low Pressure Over The Bay Of Bengal

Current Conditions on 18th November 2013 @ 2. 00 pm.

The WMLP of 11th November had strengthened to a Depression and tracked Westwards to cross over Tamilnadu near Nagapattinam on 16th November giving very good round of rainfall for Tamilnadu and adjoining States. The System subsequently crossed over to the Arabian Sea as a Well Marked Low Pressure. This System is now over Lakshadweep area and adjoining Kerala and has now become less marked. However, the associated Cyclonic Circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels over Southeast and adjoining East Central Arabian Sea.

The trough of Low at mean sea level over Andaman Sea has now strengthened to a Low
Pressure area over Southeast and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal. Associated
Cyclonic Circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels. System may become
Well Marked during next 48 hours.

The Third System is Located at Lat. 5.0 N. & Long. 110.0 E.

The Maximum Temperature over interior parts of Suarashtra, Kutch & Gujarat are around 30 to 31 C  and are about 1 to 2 C. below normal. The Minimum Temperature over most of the areas are also normal or 1 to 2 C. below normal. Only exceptions are Deesa having a Minimum of 12.2 C being 4 C. below normal and Naliya at 11.0 C. being 7 C. below normal. Rajkot had 30.5 C. Maximum being 2 C. below normal and Minimum of 16.9 C. about 1 C. below normal though the Minimum at Rajkot on 17th November morning was 19.5 C. The winds are mainly from the Northeast and has been windy during the last two three days.

Forecast: 18th to 24th November 2013

Saurashtra, Kutch & Gujarat:

The Maximum and Minimum Temperature will remain near normal to slightly below normal at most places of the above regions except one or two places of North Gujarat & Kutch where it could be lower than normal on few days. Winds will be from Northeast for first three days and subsequently from Northeast/East during the latter part of forecast period. Windy conditions will ease from Wednesday. Cloudy conditions expected on few of the days of latter part of the forecast period. The Maximum as well as Minimum Temperature is expected to trend upwards from Thursday till Sunday.

South India: 18th to 26th November 2013

The Low Pressure over the Southeast and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal will track Westwards and reach Coastal Andhra Pradesh by 20th/21st November. One more System will cross over the Gulf Of Thailand around 21st November as can be seen from GFS model of Wunderground.  Though the ECMWF forecast model has some difference, the end result is nearly the same that a System will be near Coastal Andhra /Tamilnadu around 25th/26th November.
