Low Pressure Over Bay Of Bengal – Near Coastal Odisha

Current Weather Conditions on 9th October 2012 @ 6.00 am.

The southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from most parts of Uttar Pradesh, some more parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat state and some parts of Bihar. The withdrawal line of southwest monsoon continues to pass through Raxaul, Varanasi, Jabalpur,  Hoshangabad, Vadodara, Porbandar, Lat. 21.0° N / Long. 67.0° E and Lat. 21.0° N / Long.
60.0° E.

As per IMD the Southwest Monsoon has not fully withdrawn from whole of Saurashtra as shown in the IMD map below.

A Low Pressure area formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal yesterday and is currently lying near Coastal Odisha location Lat. 18.2N & Long. 86.3E. The associated Cyclonic Circulation extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level. It is expected to track Southwestwards along the Odisha Andhra Pradesh Coast.

Tropical Cyclone “GAEMI” has weakened to a Tropical Depression and subsequently to a Low Pressure as it covered the lower part of Central Thailand, Bangkok and vicinity. It has tracked Westwards  towards Myanmar and adjoining Bay of Bengal.

An Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Coastal areas of Maharashtra & neighbourhood has persisted in the vicinity of Maharashtra for last seven days.

Forecast:

Saurashtra the humidity has decreased at ground level though some areas the humidity at 700 Mb.  is high and will remain high for a day or so. The winds are mainly from the Northwards direction and is expected to remain mainly from North up to 11th October. Winds are expected to blow from the Westwards direction from 12th to 16th October. The morning humidity will increase during this period wherein it will be very high on 15th/16th over some parts of Saurashtra. The Maximum Temperature is expected to decrease by 1 to 2 Degrees while the Minimum Temperature will decrease by 2 to 3 Degrees during the forecast period.
