Southwest Monsoon Advances Over Saurashtra, South & Central Gujarat

Monsoon Watch

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of north Arabian Sea, Gujarat state; remaining parts of Maharashtra and some more parts of Madhya Pradesh. The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM)
passes through Lat 22.0°N/ Long. 60.0° E, Lat 22.0°N/ Long. 65.0°E, 22 .0°N/ Long. 68.0°E, Jamnagar, Ahmadabad,Ratlam, Sagar, Satna, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Lat 28.0°N/ Long. 83.0°E.

Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts north Arabian Sea,Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu &
Kashmir and east Rajasthan during next 3 days.

The off shore trough at mean sea level from Gujarat coast to Kerala coast persists.

The upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Arabian sea off Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts persists between 1.5 to 3.1 Km above mean sea level.

The upper air cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and neighbourhood persists and extends upto mid tropospheric levels, tilting southwest wards with height.

The trough at mean sea level from northwest Rajasthan to northeast Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh and Orissa persists.
