Stagnated Southwest Monsoon To Advance From Veraval & Navsari By 5th July

Current Weather Conditions on 3rd July 2012 @ 11.00 am.

Yesterday there were instances of scattered rain in SUrat District, Mandvi received 51 mm. and Mangrol received 22 mm. rainfall. In Saurashtra Talala received 20 Mm. rainfall. Nothing significant in other areas. of Saurashtra & Gujarat.

There is an off shore monsoon trough from Gujarat coast to Kerala coast. There is also an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Arabian Sea off Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts and it extends over parts of Maharashtra. Yesterday's bay of Bengal Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation is now over Odisha and vicinity.

Under the cumulative effects of the above weather scenario the Southwest Monsoon that has stagnated from 17th June over Veraval & Navsari is expected to advance Northwards by 5th July also covering the remaining areas of Maharashtra. Similarly the Eastern arm of the Southwest Monsoon is also expected to move forward over parts of U.P. and M.P.

Forecast: Saurashtra 3rd to 8th July

60 % of Saurashtra is forecast to receive 4 Cms. to 8 Cms. cumulative rainfall on various days during the forecast period.

The remaining 40 % of Saurashtra is forecast to receive up to 4 Cms. cumulative rainfall on various days during the forecast period.

Forecast: South Gujarat & Central Gujarat 3rd to 8th July

Both South Gujarat and Central Gujarat are forecast to receive 8 Cms. to 12 Cms. cumulative rainfall on various days during the forecast period. The quantum of rainfall over South Gujarat will be higher than the Central Gujarat.
