Isolated Scattered Rainfall Possible

Current Weather Conditions on 29th June 2012 @ 12.00 pm.

The Monsoon has not yet set in over Saurashtra except technically over Veraval. There has not been any meaningful rainfall over most areas of Saurashtra during last two days except near Rajula and vicinity.

The Monsoon was in weak phase over the Indian Sub-continent as can be seen from the Indian Monsoon Index chart hereunder. The Monsoon Index is expected to improve drastically during the next one week.



Global Tropical Hazards Map shows that Monsoon is not active in first week. However, week two shows that Monsoon will be active and rainfall for the Peninsular India will be in the upper third of the average weekly rainfall.



Analysis:

There is a Mid-upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Maharashtra at 700 Mb. and also a Cyclonic Circulation at 500 Mb. in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai. The Off shore trough is running from Konkan to North Kerala Coast.

Forecast: Saurashtra

Scattered rain 1 Cm. to 3 Cms. over limited areas over Saurashtra during the next 48 hours. Wipe spread meaningful rainfall is not forecast in the near future.

General weather will improve between 3rd to 5th July when the clouding is expected to increase over Saurashtra. There will be strong winds of 20 to 25 Kms. per hour with gusts reaching 50 Kms./hour. The Maximum Temperature is expected to drop during 3rd to 5th July. The picture of progress of Monsoon over Saurashtra will be clear during this time.
