Bay Of Bengal To Host A Low Pressure System

Current Weather Conditions on 23rd October 2012 @ 8.00 am.

Weather event on daily basis:

18th October:

Southwest Monsoon withdraws from whole India.  Trough of  Low in Bay of Bengal East of both Srilanka and Tamilnadu Coast.

19th October:

Northeast Monsoon rains commenced over Tamilnadu, Kerala  and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka.  Low Pressure area (95B.INVEST) around 6.9N & 77.4E

20th October:

Northeast monsoon was vigorous over Tamilnadu, south Andhra Pradesh and Kerala during past 24 hours. 95B.INVEST around 9.7N & 74.7E

21st October:

The Northeast Monsoon was vigorous over Rayalaseema and Tamilnadu and active over interior Karnataka and Kerala. 95B.INVEST around 11.3N & 70.5E

22nd October:

The Northeast Monsoon was vigorous over Tamilnadu and active over Rayalaseema and Kerala ending at 0830 hours IST of 22nd October. 95B.INVEST around 10.7N & 68.7E. IMD declares that a Low Pressure area has developed over Southeast Arabian Sea.

23rd October:

The Low Pressure area 95B.INVEST is currently located at 11.6N & 64.4E with 1007 Mb Pressure with winds of 20 knots as per JTWC. The Low Pressure has tracked mainly Westwards and is moving away from the Indian Coast. System is about 1200 Km. West of Kerala Coast.

There is a trough of Low over Southeast Bay of Bengal with the Cyclonic Circulation aloft. A Low Pressure area at sea level is expected to develop by 24th. Subsequently this System is expected to strengthen further.

Saurashtra: Some light clouding swirls are seen passing over Saurashtra. The Arabian sea System is moving away from Indian Coast so will not affect Saurashtra.

South India: Rainfall amounts will decrease over Eastern Coast of Peninsula India however, it will continue over Western Coast and Southern most parts of Peninsula India due to clouding in that region. There could be a break in Northeast Monsoon for a few days. Further rainfall will depend upon the track of the new System that would develop in the Bay of Bengal within a day or two.
