Remains of Cyclone "WARD" Now Lies As a Depression In Gulf Of Mannar

Current Weather Conditions on 15th December 2009 @ 11.30 am.

The Cyclonic Storm "WARD" that weakened two days ago to a Deep Depression further to a Depression last night has crossed Shri Lanka this morning. It is currently in the Gulf of Mannar.The Central Pressure of the System has increased to 1004 Mb. with winds of 45 Kms./Hour and gusts of 55 Kms./Hour. The sea is rough with wave heights of 2.5 Meters.

Forecast:

The System is expected to track towards the Tamilnadu Coast. There are two likely scenarios of the track this System is expected to take. As per IMD it will track Westerly direction and cross TN Coast between Kanyakumari and Pamban and weaken further. As per GSF the System will track along the Tamilnadu Coast in Northerly direction initially and then North Easterly direction and may hold its strength for few more days.

Heavy rains are forecast for Shri Lanka and Coastal Tamilnadu during the next few days.

Saurashtra: The Temperatures over Saurashtra has been near normal to slightly above normal for the past two days and the same is expected for the next few days. Normal for Rajkot is Max. 30 and Min. 13.5 Degree. The Temperatures are expected to remain in the 30 to 32 Degree Maximum and 13 to 15 Degrees Minimum range.
