Weekly Rainfall Forecast Gujarat & India

Current Weather Conditions 20th July 2009 @ 10.30 am

A Well Marked Low Pressure exists over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. It is expected to strengthen further.

The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Ganganagar, Meerut, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur and center of Well Marked Low Pressure area and thence Southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

Forecast: Conditions are conducive for scattered rains for Saurashtra, South Gujarat & Central Gujarat and parts of North Gujarat. Later in the week, the effects of the Bay of Bengal System
will be felt when the rainfall amounts will increase during 22nd to 24th July.

Rain Forecast period: 20th to 26th July

Saurashtra: 60 % of Saurashtra is expected to get 4 Cms. to 6 Cms. of rain, another 20 % of Saurashtra will get 6 Cms. to 8 Cms. of rain, while the balace 20 % of Saurashtra (including the Coastal areas) will get 8 Cms. to 15 Cms. of rain. Isolated locations of Saurashtra could get upto 20 Cms. or more rain during the forecast period.

South Gujarat: 12 Cms. to 20 Cms. of rain.
Central Gujarat: 8 Cms. to 12 Cms. of rain.
North Gujarat: 50% will get 5 Cms. to 8 Cms. & 50% areas will get 2 Cms to 5 Cms. of rainfall during the forecast period.

Rest of India:

Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Orissa, Chhatishgarh is expected to get 15 Cms to 20 Cms. of rain with isolated areas getting above 20 Cms.

M.P. will get 8 Cms. to 20 Cms. of rain.

Delhi will receive scattered rain starting today.
