Depression In The Arabian Sea

Current weather Conditions on 23rd. June 2009 @ 10.30 am.

Yesterday's Low Pressure in the Arabian Sea has strenghtened to a Depression this morning and is currently lying at 19.5N & 71.5E which is about 150 Kms. West of Mumbai and 175 Kms. South of Saurashtra coast. The Winds associated with this System are 55 Kms./Hour gusting to 65 Kms./Hour. The Central pressure is 1001 Mb.

The Convective clouds associated with this system are located West of the Depression centre and spread over 300 Kms. Diameter. The Northern part of the Concective clouds is near Veraval Diu & coastal Saurashtra.

Forecast:

As per the Forecast Models the Depression is expected to track in the North North Easterly direction towards the Gulf of Cambay. The Clouds are on the West of the Depression centre and if it remains that way there is very good chance of rains for Saurashtra today and tomorrow. All areas that could be affected by this Depression are Konkan including Mumbai, South Gujarat and Saurashtra.
