Heavy Rainfall Over Many Parts Of Saurashtra

Current Conditions on 14th June 2008 @ 4.30 pm.

The Low Pressure 91A that developed in the Arabian Sea on 9th June 2008 had tracked towards Oman. The centre of LP was at 22N 63E. on 11th June and the Convective clouds that were mainly on the Western Side of LP close to Oman had rained out. Then 91A started tracking back East from 63E 22N and organised itself again while moving towards the Saurashtra Coast. On 13th 2.00 pm. 91A was located at 22.6N 67.6E very close to Dwarka/Okha of Saurashtra Coast. This system has given very heavy rainfall on the Western Coast of Saurashtra & Kutch. Intense clouds moved across Saurashtra from West to East giving varying intensity of rainfall for most parts of Western Saurashtra by morning 14th June. Currently the rain activity has shifted from Wetern Saurashtra towards the remaing parts of Saurashtra.

Forecast dated 12th June still valid. Some parts of Saurashtra have received more than forecasted rainfall.

Northern Limit of Monsoon as per IMD:
The northern limit of monsoon as on 13th June 2008 passes through Lat 24°N/Long 60°E, Lat 24°N/Long 65°E, Dessa, Udaipur, Guna, Jhansi, Fatehpur, Bahraich, Pantnagar, Patiala and Jammu.
