Twin Low Pressures – One Over Arabian Sea & Another Over Bay Of Bengal

Current Weather Conditions on 27th October 2012 @ 8.30 am.

A Low Pressure System has tracked Westwards from the Gulf of Thailand and crossed over to the Bay of Bengal on 24th October. This system has been monitored by JTWC as 93W.INVEST. Current location is 12.0N. 91.0E. about 1200 Kms. East of the Tamilnadu Coast. Another Low Pressure has developed from the trough of Low that crossed over to the Arabian Sea from the Southwest Bay of Bengal. Current location of the Arabian Sea Low Pressure is 6.0N &70.0E. about 800 Kms. West of South Kerala Coast.

Forecast:

The Bay of Bengal Low Pressure is expected to track Westwards and will be beneficial for the Northeast Monsoon. However, the Arabian Sea Low Pressure area is expected to give rainfall on the Western Coast of Peninsula India. Most forecast models are seeing intensification of the Arabian Sea Low Pressure System. Current track for the Arabian Sea System is Forecast Northwestwards initially. Further track will depend upon the timing and location of Western Disturbance in any when the System reaches around 15 to 20N.

Both the systems will be monitored and updates will be given as and when warranted.
