Bay Low Pressure Already Over Andhra-Chhatisgarh-Maharashtra Tri-State Border Vicinity

Current Weather Conditions on 13th August 2010 @ 10.30 am.

There has been scattered showers over Saurashtra region for the last three days on 10th, 11th & 12 August.

A Low Pressure area developed yesterday over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal which is currently lying over Tri-State border of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & Vidarbha. There is also a Low Pressure area over Uttar Pradesh and an Mid-upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over north Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab & Haryana. The axis of monsoon trough passes through Ganganagar, Bharatpur, Jhansi, Seoni, Centre of Low Pressure area, Kakinada and thence Southeastwards to Southeast Bay of Bengal.

Forecast:

Contrary to earlier forecast of less rain over Peninsular and Central India, due to the formation of Low Pressure Area over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal and its current position, meaningful rainfall will occur over Andhra Pradesh, Chhatishgarh, Maharashtra, East & North Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and North India. Heavy rain is expected over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & medium to heavy rainfall for South Gujarat.

Saurashtra: 13th to 16th August 2010

The Low Pressure System currently near Chhatishgarh, Vidarbh vicinity is expected to travel mostly Northwesterly direction. Saurashtra is not expected to be affected by this System. Partly cloudy weather with off and on sunshine and scattered showers are expected during the forecast period.

South Gujarat is expected to get medium to heavy rainfall during next five days.
