Southwest Monsoon Withdraws From Entire Country – Northeast Monsoon Sets In Over South India

Current Weather Conditions on 21st October 2013 @ 3.00 pm.

The Southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of the country, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Thus, it has withdrawn from the entire country today, the 21st October 2013. Simultaneously, the northeast Monsoon rains have commenced over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on today, the 21st  October 2013. The northeast Monsoon has been active over coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Yesterday’s Low Pressure area over Central parts of South Bay of Bengal today lies as a Well Marked Low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu – South Andhra Pradesh coasts. Associated Cyclonic Circulation extends upto 3.1 kms above sea level.

Forecast For South India: 21st to 25th October 2013

The Well Marked Low Pressure is expected to track Northwest direction and cross the Peninsula to emerge over the Arabian Sea by 24th. Medium to heavy rainfall expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Tamilnadu and subsequently over interior areas of Southern Peninsula when the System tracks over land.

Forecast: 21st to 25th October

Saurashtra:

Mainly dry and hot weather will prevail during the forecast period. The winds will be mainly from the Northerly direction and the day time humidity will be 35 to 40 %.

Extended Forecast For Saurashtra  & Gujarat: 26th to 28th October

As has been indicated above that the Bay Of Bengal WM Low Pressure is expected to cross over to the Arabian Sea, there is a possibility of unseasonal rain over South Gujarat, Saurashtra and some parts of rest of Gujarat during the extended forecast period. Reliability of this extended forecast depends up on the track and cross over date of the Low Pressure system from the bay of Bengal.

Goa & Maharashtra could receive unseasonal rain from 23/24th onwards till the existence of the System.
