Saurashtra Eagerly Awaiting Monsoon Rains

Current Weather Conditions on 18th June 2012 @ 4.00 pm.

There has been very heavy rainfall over Konkan yesterday with rainfall of 6 Cms. to 20 Cms. at various places with some places like Sangeshwar and Dapoli getting more than 25 Cms. of rain. Today the Monsoon clouds are along the Western Coast of India from Kerala to just South of Mumbai. Whole of Southern Peninsula along with Central M.P. and Madhya Maharashtra is also covered with dense clouding.

The Southwest Monsoon has been declared over Veraval on the Saurashtra Coast, however, no meaningful rainfall has been reported from Veraval during the last two days.

Today Saurashtra has partly cloudy sky and Coastal region has got some what hazy.

Forecast: Kerala, Coastal Karnataka & Konkan 18th to 23rd June

Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, & Konkan will receive 15 Cms. to 20 Cms. of rainfall during the forecast period with some places getting more than 20 Cms. during this period.

Forecast: Saurashtra 18th June to 23rd June

This forecast based on GFS forecast model:

20 % of Saurashtra will get scattered rainfall on various days cumulative of 1 CM. to 3 Cms. during the forecast period.

80 % of Saurashtra or rest of Saurashtra will get scattered showers or rain on various days cumulative up to 1 Cm.

High winds will prevail over most parts of Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat for the next three four days. Winds speeds of 20 to25 Kms. with Gusts of above 50 Kms/hour will be experienced.
