Two Embedded Low Pressure Areas Within Axis Of Monsoon

Current Weather Conditions on 11th August 2011 @ 8.00 pm.

The Low Pressure area over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Sindh area persists with associated Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation extending up to Midtropospheric levels tilting Southwestwards with height. Another Low Pressure area developed this morning over Gangetic West Bengal and neighborhood and it persists with associated Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation extending up to Midtropospheric levels tilting Southwestwards with height. The system is expected to strengthen during next 24 hours. The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Center of Low Pressure area (Barmer), Bharatpur, Fursatganj, Hazaribagh, Center of recent Low pressure area (Bankura) and thence Southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

There has been light to medium rainfall over many parts of Saurashtra. It has been raining intermittently though mostly light in Rajkot where total rain today is 34.4 mm. till 8.00 pm.

Forecast:

Scattered light to medium rain expected over Saurashtra for one more day. Kutch will get medium rain for two days.
