Second Depression Tracks Towards Oman

Current Weather Conditions on 7th November 2011 @ 11.30 am.

The Low Pressure area that had developed on Friday the 4th November has strengthened to a Well Marked Low Pressure on 5th and subsequently to a Depression on the 6th. This System has mainly tracked Westwards till yesterday. Today at 0830 hrs IST this System lies over Central parts of South and adjoining Central Arabian sea near Latitude 11.50N and Longitude 63.50E, about 1250 km West of Karnataka Coast and about 1100 Kms. South East of Oman/Yemen Coast. The Central pressure is 1000 Mb. and winds of 50 to 60 Kms./Hours. The system is likely to move initially West Northwestwards and then northwestwards towards Oman coast during next 48 hrs.

As the Depression is expected to move away from West coast of India, it is not likely to affect Saurashtra, Kutch & Gujarat. However, the convective clouds associated with this System are spread over a very wide stretch of 1200 Kms in East West orientation. If the System tracks Northwards there could be some possibility of periphery clouds reaching Saurashtra/Kutch Coast during the next four days. This System should be closely watched.
