NARGIS Strengthens As It Nears Landfall Over Ayeyrwady Division of Myanmar

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS" In The Bay Of Bengal

Current Conditions on 2nd May 2008 at 11.30 am.

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS" in the Bay of Bengal has stregthened to 115 knots with 937 mb. Pressure. Nargis has tracked mainly Eastwards from yesterday. The Eye is clearly visible. Nargis is expected to strike the Ayeyarwady Delta Coast of Myanmar by afternoon of 2nd May 2008 IST. Myanmar should declare high alert to face the on slougth of "NARGIS" over the densely populated area of Ayerawady Division and Yangon Division. Storm surge could cause heavy flooding inland and over the Ayeyarwady Delta area.
