Current Weather Conditions on 22nd September 2014 @ 11.00 pm.

The Low Pressure that developed over the Bay of Bengal had tracked mainly Northwards towards Odisha West Bengal, Jharkhand & Bihar and vicinity. The Clouding associated with this Low is to the Southwest of the System. The Low is now mostly weakened and now only UAC exists.

The axis of Monsoon has practically become unimportant.

There has not been any significant rainfall over Saurashtra,  Kutch & most parts of Gujarat in last few days. Only a few Districts of South Gujarat received light rain or scattered showers.

All India Daily Mean Rainfall Forecast From 22nd to 29th September 2014

The above Forecast Graph indicates that the Daily mean Rainfall during the week ending 29th September will be less than Daily mean normal Rainfall. Hence the Southwest Monsoon could end with a deficit a shade higher 11%. Seasonal deficit for Southwest Monsoon ending period 30th September could be around 12 to 12.5 %.

The criteria for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from West Rajasthan are mostly being fulfilled. There has not been any rainfall in West Rajasthan during the last 5 days. Jaisalmer has not received any rainfall after 13th September.  The Water Vapor Satellite image shows considerable reduction in moisture content in most parts of West Rajasthan. The establishment of Anti-Cyclone in the lower level ( 850 hPa and below ) is not clearly seen. However, the winds have oriented towards forming an Anti-Cyclone.

From the above analysis we conclude that the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from the West Rajasthan and nearby areas.

Note: IMD has not yet declared the Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from West Rajasthan as yet but could announce the withdrawal shortly.
