North India & Central India To experience Heat Wave

Current Weather Conditions on 16th May 2011 @ 11.00 am

Necessary heating of North Indian plains and Central India was absent for most of April and early parts of May. However, heating has started now. The Maximum Temperatures over North India and Central India has increased over the last two three days.

The Maximum Temperature over Saurashtra has been near normal or slightly above normal over most areas except for Bhavnagar and vicinity where the Maximum Temperature was 43.2 Degrees C. being 3 Degrees above normal. The Maximum Temperature at Rajkot was 41.5 Degrees C. which is about one Degree above normal. Saurashtra has been experiencing very high Winds for the last four days. The Average wind speed has been in the range of 25 to 25 Kms./hour daily during afternoon - evening periods. Wind gusts have been 50 to 65 Kms./hour.

Forecast: 16th to 19th May

Heat Wave conditions are expected over Rajasthan, Punjab, haryana, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, North M.P. East M.P., Vidarbha where the Maximum Temperature is expected to be between 44 to 46 Degrees C. with pockets of these regions could get higher Maximum temperatures of 46 to 48 Degrees C. leading to Severe Heat Wave.

The Maximum Temperature at Rajkot is expected to be 40 to 42 Degrees C. Higher Temperatures are expected around Bhavnagar ranging 42 to 44 Degrees C. and Ahmedabad at about 42 to 43 Degrees C. Saurashtra will continue to experience very high Winds for the next four days. The Average wind speed will increase to of 30 to 45 Kms./hour on some days during afternoon - evening periods. Wind gusts will be 50 to 70 Kms./hour.
