The axis of monsoon trough passes through Bikaner, Gwalior, Varanasi, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
Due to hot weather conditions in Saurashtra & Gujarat, the Barometric pressure over Saurashtra had gone down and in Rajkot it recorded 994 Mb. yesterday. The convective clouds just South of Saurashtra were sucked in over Saurashtra and parts of Gujarat giving heavy thunder lightening and winds gusting upto 90 Kms./Hour. These regions received Rain of varying amounts.
Forecast: Conditions will become conducive for good round of rain for Saurashtra, South Gujarat & Central Gujarat from 8th/9th July onwards.
Rain Forecast period: 6th July to 12th July 2009
Saurashtra: 75 % of Saurashtra is expected to get 5 Cms. to 8 Cms. of rain, while 25 % of Saurashtra (including the Coastal areas) will get 8 Cms. to 12 Cms. of rain.
South Gujarat & Central Gujarat: 10 Cms. to 20 Cms.
North Gujarat: Hit or Miss Thunders. However, the forecasst will be updated for North Gujarat as and when warranted.
Rest of India:
Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Goa, Konkan and Andaman & Nicobar Islands will get 15 Cms. to 20 Cms. with Isolated places in this region getting upto 30 Cms. of rain.
West Bengal, Orissa, Chhatishgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh & Uttar Pradesh will get 10 Cms. to 20 Cms of rain.
Forecast for whole Maharashtra has been given on 4th July.
