Fresh Low Pressure Area Over Bay Of Bengal

Current Weather Conditions on 3rd September 2009 @ 5.00 pm.

Saurashtra and Gujarat has received very good round of rainfall from 28th August to 31st August. Last two days the rainfall is scattered over Saurashtra.

There is a Cyclonic Circulation over North Maharashtra, South Gujarat vicinity. The monsoon trough runs from Konkan to Karnataka.

A low pressure area has formed currently at 19.0N 90.0E about 400 Kms. South East from the Orissa Coast. This system could strengthen further in a day or two.

The axis of monsoon trough passes through Anupgarh, Jaipur, Nowgaon, Pendra, Jharsuguda, Centre of the Low Pressure area and thence Southeastward to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

Forecast: Under the cumulative effect of the Monsoon trough that runs from Konkan to Karnataka and the Cyclonic Circulation over North Maharashtra & South Gujarat, heavy rainfall is forecast for Konkan, South Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and coastal Saurashtra. Rest of Saurashtra will receive scattered rainfall.
