In Gujarat they were ranging from 43 to 45 C between 26th to 28th May and subsequently a marginal drop in Maximum Temperature took place between 29th to 31st May. The Maximum at Rajkot was 42.8 C, Ahmedabad was 43.2 C and Bhuj was 39.5 C against normal maximum of 40 C, 41 C. and 39 C. respectively for these Centers.<\/p>\n<p>The Monsoon has not yet set in over Kerala and is expected to be delayed by 5 days from normal onset.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">IMD Map showing the Northern Limit of Monsoon Till 31st May 2014<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmi2318806.contaboserver.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/mon-prog_310514.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5531\" src=\"https:\/\/vmi2318806.contaboserver.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/mon-prog_310514.gif\" alt=\"mon-prog_310514\" width=\"1000\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<big><strong>Southern Oscillation Index<\/strong><\/big>:<\/h3>\n<p>The <big>Southern Oscillation Index<\/big>, or SOI, gives an indication of the development and intensity of El Ni\u00f1o or La Ni\u00f1a events in the Pacific Ocean. The SOI is calculated using the pressure differences between Tahiti and Darwin. Sustained negative values of the SOI below \u22128 often indicate\u00a0El Ni\u00f1o episodes. These negative values are usually accompanied by sustained warming of the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean, a decrease in the strength of the Pacific Trade Winds.<\/p>\n<p>Positive values of the SOI above +8 are typical of a\u00a0La Ni\u00f1a episode. They are associated with stronger Pacific trade winds and warmer sea temperatures to the north of Australia. Waters in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean become cooler during this time.<\/p>\n<p>Latest Monthly SOI for 31st May 2014 is\u00a0 <strong>+4.5<\/strong> as per Government of Queensland, Australia. The SOI is termed as consistently positive since it has been positive in April too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmi2318806.contaboserver.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2014_SOI_May1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5538\" src=\"https:\/\/vmi2318806.contaboserver.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2014_SOI_May1.gif\" alt=\"2014_SOI_May\" width=\"565\" height=\"423\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Forecast: 1st to 6th June 2014:<\/h3>\n<h3>Saurashtra, Gujarat &amp; Kutch:<\/h3>\n<p>Marginal relief from very hot weather on 1st June, however, the Maximum temperature will start rising from 2nd June. Heat Wave condition is forecast during 3rd June to 5th June over some pockets of Saurashtra, Kutch &amp; Gujarat when the Maximum Temperature range will be between 43 C to 46 C over Hot Spots of these regions.
