The Depression over the East Central Bay Of Bengal tracked mainly Northwards during the last 24 hours. The system has wind speeds of 30 knots and 1000 Mb. Pressure and was located at 17.0 N & 91.8 E on 22nd may 2014 @ 1200 UTC ( 5.30 pm. IST ) about 700 Kms. Southeast of Odisha Coast and similar distance South Southeast of Kolkata.<\/p>\n

FORMATION OF A SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE IS POSSIBLE WITHIN\r\n080 NM EITHER SIDE OF A LINE FROM 16.6N 92.3E TO 20.0N 91.6E\r\nWITHIN THE NEXT 12 TO 24 HOURS. AVAILABLE DATA DOES NOT JUSTIFY\r\nISSUANCE OF NUMBERED TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNINGS AT THIS TIME.\r\nWINDS IN THE AREA ARE ESTIMATED TO BE 25 TO 30 KNOTS. METSAT\r\nIMAGERY AT 220600Z INDICATES THAT A CIRCULATION CENTER IS LOCATED\r\nNEAR 17.0N 92.1E. THE SYSTEM IS MOVING NORTHWARD AT 05 KNOTS.\r\n2. REMARKS: THE AREA OF CONVECTION PREVIOUSLY LOCATED NEAR 16.1N \r\n91.4E, IS NOW LOCATED NEAR 17.0N 92.1E, APPROXIMATELY 315 NM SOUTH \r\nOF CHITTAGONG, BANGLADESH. ANIMATED MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY \r\nDEPICTS A BROAD AND POORLY DEFINED LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION CENTER \r\n(LLCC) WITH FLARING AND FRAGMENTED DEEP CONVECTION. A 220336Z AMSU-B \r\nMICROWAVE IMAGE REVEALS A SLOPPY STRUCTURE WITH SEVERAL ISOLATED \r\nBURST OF DEEP CONVECTION MOSTLY LOCATED ALONG THE WESTERN SEMI-\r\nCIRCLE. AN OLDER 220021Z WINDSAT PASS SHOWS A SLIGHT CONSOLIDATION \r\nIN THE LLCC WITH 15 TO 20 KNOT WINDS ALONG THE EASTERN PERIPHERY \r\nWHILE STRONGER WINDS ALONG THE DEEP CONVECTION IS RAIN-FLAGGED AND \r\nNOT CONSIDERED RELIABLE. WARM SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURES IN THE AREA \r\nREMAIN CONDUCIVE FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT. UPPER-LEVEL ANALYSIS \r\nINDICATES THE DISTURBANCE IS LOCATED IN AN AREA OF MODERATE TO \r\nSTRONG (20 TO 30 KNOTS) VERTICAL WIND SHEAR WHICH IS BEING SLIGHTLY \r\nOFFSET BY GOOD OUTFLOW. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS ARE \r\nESTIMATED AT 25 TO 30 KNOTS. MINIMUM SEA LEVEL PRESSURE IS ESTIMATED \r\nTO BE NEAR 1000 MB. NUMERIC MODEL GUIDANCE IS VARYING IN THE \r\nDEVELOPMENT OF THE SYSTEM AS IT SLOWLY DRIFTS TO THE NORTH-\r\nNORTHWEST.
