Current Weather Conditions On 4th January 2014 @ 1.00 pm.<\/h3>\n

As had been forecast earlier, the Minimum Temperature over Saurashtra, Kutch & Gujarat are near normal to slightly above normal at most places of the region on 4th January 2014 with exception of Naliya where the Minimum Temperature was 5.6 C. about 4 C. below normal.<\/p>\n

The Low Pressure over Southwest Bay of Bengal had strengthened to a Well Marked Low Pressure yesterday and this morning it has further strengthened to a into a Depression and lies centred at 0300 UTC of today, the 4th January 2014 within half a deg. of Lat. 8.5\u00b0 N\/Long. 83.5\u00b0 E about 470 kms. Southeast of Nagapattinam and 250 kms east of Trincomalee (Sri-Lanka).<\/p>\n

The Minimum temperature is expected to again decline from 5th January and is expected to be near normal to 2 to 3 Degrees below normal during the forecast period. In short a decline of 2 to 3 C. in Minimum temperature is expected.<\/p>\n

The Depression System may intensify into a Deep Depression and move West Northwestwards slowly and cross Sri-Lanka coast to the North of Lat. 9.0\u00ba N by tomorrow, the 5th January 2014 evening. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over\u00a0 Sri Lanka, South Tamilnadu & parts of Kerala till 7th January.<\/p>\n
