Advance of Southwest Monsoon 2009 <\/p>\n
Current Meteorological Conditions<\/p>\n
o An east-west seasonal trough at mean sea level extending from Sriganganagar to head Bay of Bengal through Patiala, Lucknow, Patna and Malda.
o Upper air cyclonic circulations one over Punjab and neighbourhood and the other circulation over Gujarat and adjoining south Pakistan and neighbourhood.
o Fairly widespread rainfall over Punjab, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand. East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n
Advance of monsoon<\/p>\n
With above favourable conditions, southwest monsoon has further advanced today, i.e. 30th June, into remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, entire Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, some more parts of east Rajasthan and many parts of Punjab and Haryana. <\/p>\n
Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) <\/p>\n
The northern limit of southwest monsoon passes through Lat. 25.0\u00b0N \/ Long. 60.0\u00b0E and Lat. 25.0\u00b0N \/Long. 65.0\u00b0E, Udaipur, Jaipur, Pilani, Hissar, Ludhiana and Jammu.<\/p>\n
Forecast<\/p>\n
Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Punjab and Haryana and some more parts of Rajasthan during next 2 days.<\/p>\n
