Current Weather Conditions on 6th September 2016<\/h4>\n

The low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal & neighborhood now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. The Associated Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilts Southwards with height.<\/p>\n

The Western\u00a0end\u00a0of\u00a0the Axis\u00a0of Monsoon\u00a0trough\u00a0at\u00a0mean\u00a0sea\u00a0level\u00a0continues\u00a0to\u00a0run\u00a0close to the foothills of Himalayas. However\u00a0its Eastern\u00a0end passes through Gorakhpur, Patna, Hazaribagh, and thence to the Center of Low Pressure Area.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0fresh\u00a0Western\u00a0Disturbance\u00a0as\u00a0an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation\u00a0lies\u00a0over North\u00a0Pakistan & adjoining Afghanistan and extends up to Mid-tropospheric levels.<\/p>\n

An Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation\u00a0lies\u00a0over\u00a0Gujarat\u00a0&\u00a0neighborhood \u00a0between\u00a03.1\u00a0&\u00a04.5 km above mean sea level.<\/p>\n

IMD Criteria for Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon:<\/p>\n

a) Withdrawal from extreme North-Western parts of the country is not attempted before 1st September.<\/p>\n

b) After 1st September:<\/p>\n

The following major synoptic features are considered for the first withdrawal from the Western parts of NW India.<\/p>\n

i) Cessation of rainfall activity over the area for continuous 5 days.<\/p>\n

ii) Establishment of Anticyclone in the Lower Troposphere (850 hPa and below)<\/p>\n

iii) Considerable reduction in moisture content as inferred from satellite water vapor imagery and tephigrams.<\/p>\n

Further Withdrawal from the Country:<\/p>\n

i) Further withdrawal from the country is declared, keeping the spatial continuity, reduction in moisture as seen in the water vapor imagery and prevalence of dry weather for 5 days.<\/p>\n

ii) SW monsoon is from the Southern peninsula and hence from the entire country only after 1st October, when the circulation pattern indicates a change over from the Southwesterly wind regime.<\/p>\n
