Minicoy,<br \/>\nAmini,Thiruvananthapuram, Punalur, Kollam, Allapuzha, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur,<br \/>\nKozhikode, Thalassery,Kannur, Kasargode and Mangalore report rainfall of 2.5 mm<br \/>\nor more for two consecutive days, the onset over Kerala be declared on the 2nd day,<br \/>\nprovided the following criteria are also in concurrence.<\/h3>\n<h3>b) Wind field<\/h3>\n<h3>Depth of westerlies should be maintained upto 600 hPa, in the box equator to Lat.<br \/>\n10\u00baN and Long. 55\u00baE to 80\u00baE. The zonal wind speed over the area bounded by Lat.<br \/>\n5-10\u00baN, Long. 70-80\u00baE should be of the order of 15 \u2013 20 Kts. at 925 hPa. The source<br \/>\nof data can be RSMC wind analysis\/satellite derived winds.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>c). Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR)<\/h3>\n<h3>INSAT derived OLR value should be below 200 wm-2<br \/>\nin the box confined by Lat. 5-<br \/>\n10\u00baN and Long. 70-75\u00baE.<\/h3>\n<h3>Further Advance of Monsoon over the Country<\/h3>\n<h3>a) Further advance be declared based on the occurrence of rainfall over<br \/>\nparts\/sectors of the sub-divisions and maintaining the spatial continuity of the<br \/>\nnorthern limit of monsoon, further advance be declared.<\/h3>\n<h3>The following auxiliary features may also be looked into:<\/h3>\n<h3>b) Along the west coast, position of maximum cloud zone, as inferred from the<br \/>\nsatellite imageries may be taken into account.<\/h3>\n<h3>c) The satellite water vapour imageries may be monitored to assess the extent<br \/>\nof moisture incursion.<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Posted on 31st May 2016 IMD Criteria For On Set Of Southwest Monsoon Over Kerala a) Rainfall If after 10th May, 60% of the available 14 stations enlisted*, viz.
