Expectation Fulfilled – South West Monsoon Sets In Over Mumbai

From IMD:

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, south Madhya Maharashtra & Marathawada; some parts of south Chhattisgarh and Odisha; most parts of Bay of Bengal; remaining parts of north eastern States; some more parts of West Bengal.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Lat. 19.0° N / Long. 60.0° E, Lat. 19.0° N / Long. 70.0° E, Mumbai, Parbhani, Ramgundam, Jagdalpur, Puri, Lat. 21.0° N / Long. 88.0°E, Kolkata and Gangtok.

Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of Arabian Sea and Maharashtra; some parts of Gujarat states; remaining parts of Andhra Pradesh, Bay of Bengal & West Bengal & Sikkim; some more parts of Chhattisgarh & Odisha and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar during next 3 days.

Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch:

Conditions are improving before onset of Southwest Monsoon over Saurashtra, Kutch & Gujarat.  There has been scattered rainfall over most parts of Saurashtra on 7th June. Overall Humidity has increased considerably which indicates the Monsoon is round the corner.  Scattered rainfall expected over Saurashtra, South & Central Gujarat during the forecast period. Southwest Monsoon expected to set in over parts of Saurashtra & Gujarat by 11th June.
