Bay Of Bengal Hosts Cyclonic Storm “MAHASEN”

The Deep Depression in the Bay of Bengal has strengthened to a Cyclonic Storm “MAHASEN” as per IMD Bulletin No.: BOB 01/2013/05 Dated 11-05-2013 Time of issue 1030 hours IST (0500 UTC)

As per JTWC has this System today 11th May 2013 at 0600 UTC ( 11.30 am. IST) at 45 knots. ( 85 Kms/hour on a one minute average wind speed basis) located at 7.7 N. and 90.2 E. with Central Pressure of 989 Mb.

As per RSMC/IMD vide their Bulletin No. BOB 01/2013/05 Dated 11-05-2013 time of issue 0830 hours IST the Deep Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal moved Northwestwards, intensified into a cyclonic storm, MAHASEN and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of 11thth May 2013 near latitude 07.00  N and longitude 90.50  E, about 350 km Southwest of Car Nicobar, 1030 km East-Southeast of Trincomalee, 1300 km Southeast of Chennai and 1700 km south-southwest of Chittagong. The system would intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 24 hours. It would move initially Northwestwards during next 36 hours and recurve thereafter Northeastwards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.
