Depression Over West Central Bay Of Bengal Tracking Towards Andhra Coast
– Gujarat State Expected To Be Affected 15th-19th October 2020

The withdrawal line of the Southwest Monsoon is same as that on 6th October 2020 and so continues to pass through Lat. 28°N/Long.83°E, Faizabad, Fatehpur, Nowgong, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Porbandar, Lat. 21°N/ Long.65°E and Lat. 21°N/ Long.60°.

The Low Pressure that developed over around Andaman & Nicobar has tracked mainly westwards and strengthened to a WMLP and subsequently to a Depression Yesterday over Westcentral Bay of Bengal. Today the Depression lay centered at 11.30 am IST today, the 12th October, 2020, near latitude 16.0°N and longitude 84.5°E, about 250 km east-southeast of Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh). It is very likely to intensify further into a Deep Depression during next 12 hours. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh coast between Narsapur & Vishakhapatnam, close to Kakinada during the early morning of 13th October, 2020.

A Trough runs from the Cyclonic Circulation associated with the above system to Eastcentral Arabian Sea roughly along Lat. 15°N across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Coastal & North Interior Karnataka between 3.1 & 5.8 km above mean sea level.

Remnants of the current Depression are likely to emerge as a Low Pressure Area over Eastcentral & adjoining Northeast Arabian Sea off north Konkan-south Gujarat coasts around 15th October, 2020.

Forecast: Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch 12th to 19th October 2020

South Gujarat:

Possibility of Light/Medium/Heavy rain over scattered areas on some days mainly from 14th/15 to 19th October at different locations with isolated Very Heavy rainfall during the Forecast period. Cumulative Rainfall few Heavy rain centers could get up to 100 mm during the entire forecast period. Thunder expected on some days with windy conditions depending upon the System location.

East Central Gujarat &
Coastal Saurashtra Districts of Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar & adjoining Rajkot District : 

Possibility of Light/Medium rain over scattered areas on some days mainly from 15th to 19th October at different locations with isolated Heavy rainfall during the Forecast period. Cumulative (Total) Rainfall over few Heavy rain centers could get up to 60 mm during the entire forecast period, while rest of the above areas lower quantum. Thunder expected on some days with windy conditions depending upon the System location.

Rest of Saurashtra, Kutch & North Gujarat:

Possibility of Showers/Light rain over scattered areas on some days mainly from 15th to 19th October at different locations with isolated Medium rain during the Forecast period. Thunder expected on some days with windy conditions depending upon the System location.
