Scattered Showers/Light To Medium Rain Expected Over Saurashtra & Gujarat On Some Days Over Next 7 Days – Update Dated 6th June 2017

The Western arm of Southwest Monsoon had been stand still from 30 May mainly due to the effects of UAC over Central Arabian Sea which has since tracked Westwards and is currently a Well Marked Low Pressure over West Central Arabian Sea.

Now IMD has declared that:
Southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of South Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area, most parts of Kerala and some more parts of Tamilnadu and South West Bay of Bengal. The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through Lat.12.0°N/Long.60.0°E, Lat.12.0°N/Long.70.0°E, Kannur, Uthagamandalam, Cuddalore, and Lat.13.0°N/ Long.86.0°E, Lat.17°N/Long.90.0°E, Lat.20.0°N/Long. 91.0°E, Agartala, William Nagar, Kokrajhar and Lat. 27.0°N/Long. 90.0°E.

Conditions are becoming favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Kerala, Tamilnadu and Southwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Central Arabian Sea, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka,   Rayalaseema and south Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some more parts of West Central and north Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Tripura, Assam & Meghalaya and some parts of Sub­-Himalayan West Bengal during next 3 days.

Forecast: Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch Dated 6th To 12th June 2017

The winds will blow from Southwest for one/two days and then from Westerly direction and variable on 10th to 12th over Saurashtra, Kutch & Gujarat. Maximum Temperature will be near normal with higher humidity.

A Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation is expected to form over Arabian Sea/Maharashtra around 11th June as per GFS, however, ECMWF has different outcome, but in both the case the winds will blow from Southwest over Western India up to parts of Maharashtra coast.

 

Saurashra, South Gujarat & Central Gujarat expected to receive scattered showers or light to medium rain on 2 to 4 days in various places during the forecast period.

North Gujarat & Kutch expected to receive scattered showers or light rain on 1 to 3 days in various places during the forecast period.
