Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MEGH” Expected To Strike Yemen’s Socotra Island Today 8th November by 1200 UTC – WMLP Over Southwest Bay Of Bengal To Concentrate Into A Depression

Observations & Outcome:

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MEGH” over Westcentral Arabian Sea is just 200 kms. from Socotra Island, Yemen. The dense clouding associated with this System are just 1o0 kms.from Socotra Island while the System Center is about 175 to 200 Kms. “MEGH” is expected to strike the Island today by 1200 UTC as a Category 3 Cyclone as per JTWC. “MEGH” is expected to travel mainly Westwards and will affect Yemen Mainland as well as Somaliya  mainly on 9th & 10th November. As per International Weather Agencies the winds of this System are blowing at 165 km./hour with gusts of 205 km/hour based on average winds on 1 minute basis as compared to IMD’s basis of 3 minute average wind speed.

The Well Marked Low Pressure area now over Southwest Bay of Bengal. This System is being monitored as 96B.INVEST location Lat. 10.2N & Long. 83.5 E. with 25 knots winds and 1004 mb. Central Pressure. The System is expected to concentrate into a Depression today. Rain has already started in Tamilnadu due to this System and heavy to extremely heavy rainfall are forecast for Peninsular India especially Tamilnadu and Southern Karnataka and Kerala.

There is a fresh Western Disturbance as an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Pakistan & adjoining areas extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.

THE VERY SEVERE CYCLONIC STORM ‘MEGH’ MOVED WEST WARDS WITH A SPEED OF 21 KMPH DURING PAST SIX HOURS INTENSIFIED FURTHER AND LAY CENTRED AT 2100 UTC OF TODAY THE 7TH NOVEMBER 2015 OVER WESTCENTRAL AND ADJOINING SOUTHWEST ARABIAN SEA NEAR LATITUDE 12.7°N AND LONGITUDE 56.7°E, ABOUT 300 KM EAST OF SOCOTRA ISLAND (41494) (YEMEN), 550 KM SOUTHEAST OF SALALAH (41316) (OMAN).AND 1860 KM WEST-SOUTHWEST OF MUMBAI (43003) IT WOULD MOVE WESTWARDS PASSING ALONG SOUTHERN COAST OF SOCOTRA ISLAND AROUND 1200 UTC OF 8TH NOVEMBER 2015. IT WOULD THEN MOVE WEST-NORTHWESTWARDS TOWARDS GULF OF ADEN, REACHING CLOSE TO NORTHERN TIP OF SOMALIA AROUND 0600 UTC OF 9TH NOVEMBER AND WOULD CROSS YEMEN COAST BETWEEN LATITUDE 13 AND-14 DEGREE NORTH DURING 0600-1200 UTC OF 10TH NOVEMBER. IT WOULD MAINTAIN ITS INTENSITY TILL 1200 UTC OF 8TH NOVEMBER AND WEAKEN GRADUALLY THEREAFTER. ACCORDING TO SATELLITE IMAGERY, INTENSITY IS T 4.5. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WIND SPEED IS 80 KNOTS GUSTING TO 90 KNOTS. THE WINDS ARE HIGHER OVER THE NORTHERN SECTOR. THE ESTIMATED CENTRAL PRESSURE IS ABOUT 976 HPA. STATE OF SEA AROUND SYTEM CENTRE IS PHENOMENAL. ASSOCIATED BROKEN LOW AND MEDIUM CLOUDS WITH EMBEDDED INTENSE TO VERY INTENSE CONVECTION LIE OVER THE AREA BETWEEN LATITUDE 11.5 DEGREE NORTH TO 14.5 DEGREE NORTH AND LONGITUDE 55.0 DEGREE EAST TO 58.0 DEGREE EAST.. THE CONVECTION SHOWS EYE PATTERN. THE RAGGED EYE IS SEEN IN BOTH VISIBLE AND IR IMAGERY. MINIMUM CLOUD TOP TEMPERATURE IN WALL CLOUD REGION IS MINUS 83°C.

અરબી સમુદ્ર નું વાવાઝોડું “MEGH” અતિ તીવ્ર વાવાઝોડા ની કેટેગરી માં પોંચ્યું છે.  તેના પવનો ઇન્ટરનેસનલ એજન્સી મૂજબ 165 કિમી પ્રતિ કલાકે ફૂંકાય છે (1 મિનીટ ની શરેરાશ મૂજબ ) જે IMD 3 મિનીટ ની શરેરાશ મૂજબ માપે છે. આંચકા ના પવનો 205 કિમી ની ઝડપે ફૂંકાય છે (1 મિનીટ ની શરેરાશ મૂજબ ).

આ વાવાઝોડું હાલ યેમેન ના સોકોટ્રા ટાપુ થી 175 થી 200 કિમી દૂર છે અને 10 કલાક માં તે સોકોટ્રા ટાપુ ઉપર ત્રાટકશે. આ સીસ્ટમ આગળ જતા યેમેન તેમજ સોમાલિયા ને પણ અસર કરશે.

બંગાળ ની ખાડી નું લો પ્રેસર હવે વેલ માર્કડ લો પ્રેસર છે અને તે દક્ષીણ પશ્ચિમ બંગાળની ખાડી માં પહોંચેલ છે. આજે મજબૂત થઇ અને ડીપ્રેસન માં પરિવર્તિત થશે.

નવું વેસ્ટર્ન ડીસ્ટર્બન્સ 3.1 કિમી ની ઉંચાયે UAC તરીકે ઊત્તર પાકિસ્તાન અને આસપાસ ના વિસ્તાર માં ફેલાયેલ છે.
