Arabian Sea System To Give Good Rainfall For Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch – Update 19th June 2015

Current Weather Conditions on 19th June 2015

 

There has been above normal rainfall activity over many parts of Saurashtra & Gujarat. Kutch has got showers in few places but limited amounts. Some more areas have been covered on 17th June and 18th June.

There is an Off-shore monsoon trough that extends from South Gujarat to North Kerala coast.

The Low Pressure area over the North West Bay Of Bengal off the South Odisha coast had strengthened to a Well Marked Low Pressure area. Associated Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting Southwestwards with height.

An East West trough at mean sea level runs from Northwest Rajasthan to North Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and the Center of Low Pressure over the Bay of Bengal & extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

An Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over the Arabian Sea Southwest of Saurashtra coast and extends from 1.5 km to 4.5 km above mean sea level.

Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch

The Bay of Bengal Well Marked Low Pressure could strengthen further during the next 24 hours.

The Arabian Sea Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation is expected to strengthen further and under its influence a Low Pressure area is expected to develope by 20th June evening over the same area.

Scattered good amounts of rainfall will continue over most parts of Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch during the forecast period with increase in coverage of rainfall on each day. Due to the change in location of the center of UAC/(Low Pressure as & when it develops) in the Arabian Sea, the rainfall amounts will vary by areas on different days.

Southwest Monsoon has been stand still over Veraval and Surat from 14th June onwards. Conditions are improving for onset of Monsoon over further parts of Saurashtra, South Gujarat & Central Gujarat and also parts of North Arabian Sea during next 72 hours.
