Southwest Monsoon Sets In Over Sri Lanka

IMD Inference:

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some parts of Southeast Arabian Sea, Maldives-Comorin area and some more parts of Southwest Bay of Bengal.

The northern limit of monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Lat5.0°N/Long 65.0°E, Lat.6.0°N/ Long.75.0°E, Ktunayake (Sri lanka), Lat.11.0°N/Long.85.0°E, Lat.15.0°N/Long.88.0°E, Lat.18.0°N/Long.91.0°E. and Lat.20.0°N/Long.93.0°E.

Conditions are favorable for onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala during next 48 hours.

Conditions are also favourable for further advanced of southwest Monsoon into some parts of south Arabian Sea, some parts of Lakshadweep area and Tamilnadu; remaining parts of MaldivesComorin are and some more parts of Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.

Outlook:

IMD is expected to declatre the onset Southwest Monsoon over Kerala on or around 2nd June. Assuming normal rate of advance of Southwest Monsoon we can construe that SW Monsoon will reach Maharashtra by 10th June and Gujarat by 15th June.
