Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS"
Current Conditions on 30th April 2008 at 7.30 am.
Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS" in the Bay of Bengal had become less organised last evening and weakened to 70 knots from the highest attained 85 knots. It is again getting organised and has gained strength of 75 knots. "NARGIS" is expected to strengthen further and track North Eastwards direction.

Winds 120 Kms./Hour.
Central Pressure 980 mb.
Current Status JTWC:
Winds 135 Kms./Hour on one Minute average
Central Pressure 967 mb.
Location 14.4N 86.9E (about 525 Kms.South East of Vizag)
Wave Height 25 Feet

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS"
Current Conditions on 29th April 2008 at 5.30 pm.
As per RSMC/IMD the Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS" has strengthened to a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm in the Bay of Bengal. "NARGIS" is the First named Tropical Storm of the North Indian Cyclone Season 2008. "NARGIS" had remained quazy-stationary from 00 hours till 1200 hours of 29th April IST. However, during the last couple of hours it has become less organised and weakened to 70 knots from the highest attained 85 knots and seems to have started its recurve. It would be interesting to see how the Cyclone gets organised once again and gain strength.

Tropical Storm "NARGIS"

As per RSMC/IMD there is a Tropical Storm "NARGIS" in the Bay of Bengal. It is the First named Tropical Storm Tropical Storm of the North Indian Cyclone Season 2008.
Current Status RSMC/IMD Tropical Storm "NARGIS" with winds upto 75 Kms./Hour to 90Kms./Hour on 3 Minutes Average.
Current Status JTWC:
Winds 100 Kms./Hour on one Minute average
Central pressure 982 mb.
Location 12.8N 85.5E (about 550 Kms.East of Chennai)
Wave Height 14 Feet

Tropical Cyclone 01B.NONAME/Deep Depression Will Be upgraded to Named Tropical Storm "NARGIS"
Current Conditions on 28th April 2008 at 9.30 am.
As per RSMC/IMD there is a Deep Depression in the Bay of Bengal and it is likely strengthen further. On attaining Tropical Cyclone Status it will named Tropical Storm "NARGIS" making it the First named Tropical Cyclone of the North Indian Cyclone Season 2008.
Current Status RSMC/IMD Deep Depression with winds upto 60 Kms./Hour on 3 Minutes Average.

As per RSMC/IMD there is a Deep Depression in the Bay of Bengal and it is likely strengthen further. On attaining Tropical Storm Status it will named Tropical Storm "NARGIS" making it the First named Tropical Cyclone of the North Indian Cyclone Season 2008.
Current Status RSMC/IMD Deep Depression with winds upto 60 Kms./Hour on 3 Minutes Average.

Central pressure 985 mb.

A Depression In The Bay Of Bengal:
Current Conditions on 27th April 2008 at 1.00 pm.
Current Status of Depression is 30 knots & 1000 mb.
Location 11.7N & 86.2E
The Well Marked Low Pressure over the Bay of Bengal has strengthened to a Depression and is located about 700 Kms. West of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Indications are that the Depression will subsequently strengthen to Cyclone status and we could have Cyclone "NARGIS" as the First named Cyclone for the North Indian Cyclone Season 2008 well ahead of the Monsoon 2008 Season.

Well Marked Low Pressure Over Bay Of Bengal:
Current Conditions on 27th April 2008 at 11.00 am.
Current Status of WMLP is 25 knots 1004 mb.
Location 11.7N & 86.7E
The Low Pressure over the Bay of Bengal has strengthened to a Well Marked Low Pressure and is located about 650 Kms. West of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It is close to a Depression strength.
Rains for India: From 26th April to 2nd May 2008:
Andanman & Nicobar Island will get 15 to 25 Cms. of rain.
North East Staes will get Isolated 7 to 12 Cms. of rain.
Kerala will get 7 to 12 Cms. of rain.
Coastal Karnataka will get 2 to 4 Cms. of rain.
